I returned from vacation on July 6 after a blissful rest from the internet. We visited remote places in central Idaho and north-eastern Oregon where our phones didn't have any service. The break was truly rejuvenating. I didn't think about work for two wonderful weeks...

Home... and then came the news -- a barrage of ignorant mocking words from our nation's leader at a campaign rally in Montana. I had no idea about our 41st President George H.W. Bush's "A Thousand Points of LIght" campaign slogan and foundation (the object of Trump's mockery), but a restrained explanatory tweet by Jenna Bush Hager (grandaughter of George H.W. Bush) helped me to understand the words of our former president, who stated (and I'm paraphrasing) that one can't achieve success and happiness in life without community service.

I am pretty sure that my father knew George H.W. Bush. Dad (Dr. Harry Edwards, MHR) served as leader of the Australian Parliamentary Delegation for 4 of his 23 years in Australia's Federal Parliament, and he attended the Prayer Breakfast events in Washington DC during that time.

In an effort to bring some light into a dark place, I wrote this song, "A Thousand Points of LIght." My Dad passed away in 2012, but I'm sure that if he could hear it, it would make him happy. I dedicate "A Thousand Points of LIght" to him...
