About "Liquid Flight (The Dance of the Manta Rays)"

Just after sunset on January 31, 2018, we swam with the Manta Rays off the coast of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have heard people say what a spectacular experience this is, but I wasn't prepared for the breathtaking awesomeness of being so incredibly close to these amazing, gentle and graceful creatures. They were so close to us that occasionally they would brush against our wet-suits with their beautiful wings. Three Manta rays danced and twirled beneath us for almost 40 minutes as they fed on the plankton that gathered in the blue light emanating from a kind of surfboard with loops around the edge for us to hold. There was a fairly big winter swell, which challenged my ability to both hold my GoPro camera steady, as well as hold myself square to the board, so I apologize for some shaky moments. We are very grateful to Ali and the crew of Iruka Hawaii Experiences, LLC, who took good care of us on the trip.

I composed the music, entitled "Liquid Flight" for the soundtrack of this video. There was plenty of squealing with delight coming from the people in the water, but I felt moved to focus this video on the beautiful rays.
